i hate apple and best buy oh my fucking god. so i got a new ipad a16. ordered that from best buy and it came in no problem. i go to connect my existing apple pencil (which i bought seven years ago) to the new ipad and it won't connect and i think yknow what that's fair. it's pretty old so it's time to get a new one. i go to best buy. an employee with an apple shirt is in the apple section and asks if i need help. i say yes, i need an apple pencil for an A16 IPAD and she goes oh ok so the apple pencil pro is what you want! and silly me, thinking that apple employees would know anything about the products they're pedaling, believed her and got the apple pencil pro.

i go home and try charging it and it won't connect. i think ok it's probably dead and leave it charging for an hour. no dice. do some googling and find out that apple pencil pros are only compatible with ipad pros and not ipad a16s. i'm peeved, go back to best buy, and exchange the apple pencil for a usb c apple pencil that is, in fact, compatible with an a16 ipad.

it connects just fine. i open procreate to draw and there's no pen pressure. huh, that's weird, i think so i go through all the motions. i restart my ipad, i disconnect then reconnect the pencil, i uninstall and reinstall my brushes and procreate as a whole. still no pen pressure. at this point i'm getting frustrated and i scribble on the screen with my finger and wouldn't you know? there's definitely stroke sensitivity when i use my fingertips. so i go back to the pen. no pressure. i google "apple pencil usb c no sensitivity" and guess fucking what?

the usb c pencil notoriously does not have pen pressure. you'd need either an apple pencil pro or a first generation apple pencil if you want pen pressure. WHO THE HELL DESIGNS A STYLUS WITH NO PEN PRESSURE?? WHY IS THAT EVEN AN OPTION?? DIE DIE DIE DIE

but the story doesn't end there. i have a first generation apple pencil, so i think great, let's pair it with bluetooth to my a16 ipad. but no, that would make too much sense. i need to buy a gay little adapter in order to connect and charge my old apple pencil to my new ipad. ARRRRGHHH!!

needless to say, i did, but i'm not happy about it. fuck everyone involved in this ordeal.

it was such a pain to get that old phone working again. the battery was completely dead and it took forever to charge. but once it finally booted up, i was able to find all my old music files. i had so many songs from my high school days that i thought were lost forever.

so i wanted to have hashiyan's cover of "bye baby sayonara" playing on my site. problem is, i can't find the damn thing for download anywhere! all the russian sites i used in the past are dead!! i have an mp3 swimming around somewhere on my highschool phone so i'm charging it now... it doesn't seem to be doing anything though. i'm praying that it boots up. i have some good music on there, man! oh, it just went from 0% to 1%. there's hope!!! once i find the song, i plan to upload it to archive.org so nobody can take it from me. unless that goes down too. SIGH.

it's so frustrating how much content from the early 2000s internet has just disappeared. all those fan sites, music downloads, forums... gone. and it's not like anyone's backing this stuff up. once a site goes down, that's it. the content is lost forever.

i remember spending hours on those russian music sites downloading vocaloid covers and doujin music. they had everything! now they're all 404 errors or domain squatters. it's depressing.

maybe i should start my own archive project. just download everything i can find and host it somewhere. but then i'd need server space and bandwidth... ugh. the internet used to feel so permanent, but now it feels like everything is temporary.
